Highly durable and resistant abrasive materials are required for collecting large quantities of material. This is why fibre discs are primarily used. For grinding and finishing surfaces, an adaptive backing pad such as the Klingspor ST 358 is best.

For fine grinding, where the backing pad must be able to adapt
In contrast to the hard ST 358 A ribbed backing pad, the medium-hard ST 358 backing pad can adapt to the contours of the workpiece. This is a universally applicable disc, especially for grinding and finishing surfaces, and is characterised by very high thermal resistance.

ST 358 – backing pads in different sizes
The medium-hard ST 358 backing pad is equipped with a fibre disc clamping nut. Please note that the diameter of the backing pad and the size of the fibre disc must match each other. ST 358 discs are available in the sizes commonly used in industry.

High-speed grinding with the ST 358 back-up disc
High-speed grinding allows for large amounts of material to be removed. Each disc size has a maximum speed specified, which must not be exceeded:

13,300 rpm for a 115 mm disc diameter
12,200 rpm for a 125 mm disc diameter
8,500 rpm for a 180 mm disc diameter
