Green investment gaining momentum – Marcopol starts building its photovoltaic farm

At Marcopol, we consistently invest in solutions that not only support the development of our company but also respond to global environmental challenges. We are proud to announce that we have begun the implementation of our long-planned renewable energy project – the construction of our first photovoltaic farm.

1.5 mw of clean energy

The ground-based photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 1.5 MW is being built on a plot located right behind our warehouses. In July, we obtained the necessary building permit, and the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony is planned for July 28th. The completion of construction work is scheduled for the end of 2025, after which the commissioning process and connection to the Energa energy grid will begin.

Efficiency through thoughtful orientation

The project features an east–west layout, which allows for the even distribution of energy production throughout the day – from the morning to late afternoon hours when the plant operates. This solution maximizes the use of energy for our own needs, minimizing the need to draw energy from the external grid.

Real Benefits for the Environment and Business

As emphasized by Andrzej Hirsch, the Head of Marcopol’s Electrical Department:

“Photovoltaics are one of the key pillars of the energy transformation in industry. Our installation will cover a significant portion of the company’s energy needs while simultaneously reducing CO emissions. The project has been designed with long-term efficiency in mind, and the east–west orientation ensures better utilization of the produced energy for the plant’s needs.”

It is estimated that this investment will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 744,255 kg annually, marking a significant step towards lowering our carbon footprint.

Long-term sustainable development strategy

The construction of the photovoltaic farm is an integral part of our broader ESG strategy, which involves the gradual implementation of eco-friendly solutions and increasing the share of energy from renewable sources in the company’s energy balance.
